Understanding Omnistrate Cost, Benefits & Savings

Traditionally, building distribution channels has been quite costly. You have to assemble a team of experts and wait for years. With Omnistrate, you NOT only have the time to market advantage, but also significantly better margins advantage over your competition. Moreover, our pricing is purely usage based and designed to fit in any budget.

The Economics of Building Your Control Plane

Keeping the cost of building their application aside, traditionally companies have to run in complete losses (talk from David Skok) for the first 100 paying customers (including the cost of building the platform from scratch) before they could make profit.

Our goal to our customers and society is that they can be profitable from Customer 1, achieve time to market in days as opposed to quarters/years, have the agility to continuously evolve to new distribution channels or your customer needs, and achieve significantly better long-term margins. Our pricing and offering reflects every aspect of that.

Key Benefits of Using Omnistrate

Massive Cost Reduction

Traditional control plane development requires substantial upfront investment and ongoing operational overhead. Omnistrate transforms this equation by providing enterprise-grade capabilities at a fraction of the cost, enabling you to focus resources on core product innovation rather than infrastructure complexity.

In addition, we have numerous Cost Controls to use the Infrastructure efficiently like multi-tenancy, auto-stop, enabling reserved/spot instances in addition to providing visibility into resource usage.

Accelerated Time-to-Market

While DIY approaches typically require years of development before reaching production readiness, Omnistrate enables you to deploy your first SaaS offering in weeks. This acceleration advantage compounds over time, allowing you to capture market opportunities and iterate based on customer feedback while competitors are still building foundational infrastructure.

Operational Excellence Without Overhead

Enterprise customers expect sophisticated operational capabilities including monitoring, alerting, automated recovery, and comprehensive observability. Omnistrate provides these capabilities out-of-the-box, eliminating the need for dedicated platform engineering teams while ensuring your service meets enterprise-grade reliability standards.

Outcome-based Pricing Model

We charge on the outcome (i.e. you derive value out of it) and not on the usage of our platform. We only make money not when you use us, but only when your customers consume your software and actually run it. If they launch deployments but keep it stopped, we don't charge anything to our customers. Hence, we only make money when you get revenue from your customers (or you run it for your internal consumption to run experiments).

For low usage, detailed information about our pricing plans and options, visit our pricing page.

To pricing at scale, we have a tiered pricing at scale. Please reach out to support@omnistrate.com for the full tiered pricing chart.

Note

Omnistrate employs lazy initialization of the control plane to avoid redundant costs. Once initialized, a few system nodes continues to run. These system nodes can be teared down in all the regions by unlinking the account, and Omnistrate never charges for these system nodes. To unlink your account, delete the account config here.

The True Cost of DIY Control Plane Development

DIY cost

DIY cost includes 3 major components:

  • Infrastructure cost: Self-hosting your SaaS control-plane itself will take you 20% overhead of your data-plane infrastructure.
  • Operational cost: Building and operating your SaaS will cost millions of dollars per year to start with and will continue to grow over time
  • Opportunity cost: You will have to wait for years to build it yourself, delaying your cloud growth by that time period and instead focus on undifferentiated tech forever

Side-by-side savings comparison

Here is a graph comparing Omnistrate and DIY costs with the following assumptions:

  • Each tenant takes 1 core, 4GB, 128GB storage, ~10% networking overhead
  • Let's say for every 100 tenants, we will need 1 engineer to build and 1 support engineer to operate
  • Let's say the average salary of engineer is 200K USD including everything

Note

Total infrastructure cost: $10.3K per-month, see here

  • DIY cost: 200K * 200/100 (200 tenants) * 2 (engineers-per-100-tenants) / 12 = ~$67K /month
  • Using Omnistrate cost: $5840 /month including priority support for Growth Plan, see here

That's 11.4x cheaper without accounting for the opportunity cost or infrastructure cost savings using the Omnistrate framework.

Note

At scale, with tiered pricing, our pricing goes down to $0.01 i.e. <$1500 for the same workload.

Time-to-Market Advantage

Traditional Development Timeline

  • Architecture and initial development to a specific distribution channel
  • Core platform development
  • Testing, security, and compliance
  • Production hardening and scaling
  • Rework to adapt to new Cloud Providers and distribution channels
  • Total: years to production-ready platform

Omnistrate Timeline

  • Week 1: Service definition and configuration
  • Week 2-3: Integration and testing
  • Week 4: Production deployment
  • Total: 1 month to production-ready SaaS to Any Cloud and Any Channel

Time Savings: years of saving in time to market

This acceleration advantage enables you to capture market opportunities, gather customer feedback, and iterate on your product while competitors are still building foundational infrastructure. The compounding effect of this time advantage often represents the most significant value driver for growing software companies.

Strategic Value Beyond Cost Savings

Risk Mitigation and Reliability

Omnistrate provides proven, enterprise-grade infrastructure that has been battle-tested across diverse customer deployments and operational scenarios. This proven foundation reduces the technical and business risks associated with building critical infrastructure in-house, while providing reliability guarantees that would require significant investment to achieve independently.

Innovation Acceleration

By eliminating the need to build and maintain complex infrastructure systems, your engineering teams can focus entirely on product innovation and customer value creation. This focus advantage compounds over time, enabling faster feature development, better customer experiences, and stronger competitive positioning in your market.

Operational Excellence

Enterprise customers expect sophisticated operational capabilities including comprehensive monitoring, automated recovery, advanced security controls, and detailed observability. Omnistrate provides these capabilities as core platform features, enabling you to meet enterprise requirements without building specialized operational expertise in-house.

Conclusion

The decision between building a control plane in-house versus leveraging Omnistrate represents a fundamental strategic choice about resource allocation and competitive focus. While DIY approaches require massive upfront investment, years of development time, and ongoing operational complexity, Omnistrate enables you to achieve enterprise-grade capabilities immediately while focusing your engineering talent on core product differentiation.

With one-tenth cost savings, years faster time-to-market, and zero operational overhead, Omnistrate transforms the economics of software distribution. You're not just saving money—you're gaining a sustainable competitive advantage that compounds over time as you scale your business and expand into new markets.

The choice is clear: focus on what differentiates your product while Omnistrate handles the sophisticated infrastructure and operational complexity required for enterprise-scale software distribution.
